2'Arthur' Creators Hate Your Memes
A spokeswoman behind your childhood fave 'Arthur' says while the network understands that most of the #ArthurMemes "have been created and shared in good fun," they're "disappointed by the few that are outside of good taste." As the case with every online meme trend, it was all fun and games until trolls got ahold of it. (via: Boston Globe)
ALERT: 'Stranger Things' Season Two News
In a sit down with Variety, 'Stranger Things' creators Matt and Russ Duffer confirmed that the second season of the series will act as a sequel to season one, diving into storylines that did not fit because of the main tension of where Will went and what happened to him. More exciting, there's another fucking dimension being added to season two. I'M DEAD. via Variety:
“We have all this stuff that we just didn’t have time for, or we didn’t feel like we needed to get into in season one, because of the main tension of Will,” he added. “We have that whole other world that we haven’t fully explored in this season, and that was very purposeful.” (via: Variety)
You Won't Believe What Facebook Is Doing With Clickbait Headlines
It's a wrap for clickbaity headlines on Facebook. Today the platform rolled out a new algorithm that'll place Pages and websites posting headlines that "withhold or distort information" lower in your newsfeed. RIP CLICKBAITING FOR CLICKS.
Facebook figured out the way to block clickbait by classifying "tens of thousands of headlines" that "withheld information required to understand the content of the article" and/or exaggerated the article to "create misleading expectations for the reader." From there it built a system that can scan for the phrases most commonly used in headlines like, "When She Bit Into This Muffin And Saw THIS....She Was TERRIFIED," and based on the internal clickbaitiness score, the links posted or shared from Pages will appear lower in News Feed. BAIT, BYE.
