"Miley, What's Good" Can't Stop Won't Stop

Did Nicki Minajesty just coin the new diss term of 2015? Ever since the rapper called out Miley Cyrus with the one-liner, "Miley, what's good", the internet has been churning out graphics of the comment and flooding Cyrus'  Instagram with the biting phrase. Adding insult to injury, an Etsy shop, TeesAndTankYouShop has dedicated a line of sweaters and t-shirts based off Minaj's harsh clapback. It's not a good week to be Miley.  via Etsy

Nah: "Wildest Dream" Director Joseph Kahn Defends Taylor Swift's Video

via: YouTube

Taylor Swift is facing some heat after dropping the video for "Wildest Dream" over its all-white-with-a-splash-of-Lion King version of Africa. Today, director Joseph Kahn defended the tone-deaf video saying that it can't be racist or racially insensitive because "a (super hot) black woman" worked on the project. My eyes are stuck in the back of my head from rolling them so hard.

Kahn's "but I have black friends!" response comes after a mic-drop of an article pointing out the video's praise to colonial Africa written by James Kassaga Arinaitwe and Viviane Rutabingwa on NPR:

"Here are some facts for Swift and her team: Colonialism was neither romantic nor beautiful. It was exploitative and brutal. The legacy of colonialism still lives quite loudly to this day. Scholars have argued that poor economic performance, weak property rights and tribal tensions across the continent can be traced to colonial strategies. So can other woes. In a place full of devastation and lawlessness, diseases spread like wildfire, conflict breaks out and dictators grab power."

Swift has yet to comment on the video.

Today the LA-based singer premiered a sexy electro-R&B jam, "Rewind" on Beats 1. Along with the new track serving early Janet vibes, Kelela also announced that her forthcoming EP, Hallucinogen, will be released October 9 via her own Cherry Coffee imprint and Warp.

Kelela describes "Rewind", co-produced by Kingdom and Nugget, as the perfect embodiment of infatuation featured on the EP detailing the ups and downs of a relationship. "It speaks to the narcotic that is loving someone. It makes you exhilarated, it makes you feel drained, it's in your body and it affects you so completely."
