NYC Judge Denies Kesha's Plea To End Her Contract With Dr. Luke
Kesha's suit against Dr. Luke, who she filed a lawsuit against in 2014 for sexual assault and battery, hit a dead end today when Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich ruled that the singer will not be released from her contract with Dr. Luke's Kemosabe Records, an imprint under Sony Records.
The judge ruled against the singer's premilinary injunction, citing lack of evidence against Luke's abuse, and said Team Kesha's argument that Sony plans to sabatoge her career is "speculative". The judge said that granting the singer's request would undermine the state's laws governing contracts. So basically, Keshsa remains locked under her Sony deal with Dr. Luke, despite her claims of abuse.
Dr. Luke's request to have the sexual assault and battery suit dismissed is still pending. Before ruling on the counterclaim, Kornreich asked lawyers to hand over more details surrounding the assault. (via: The Hollywood Reporter)
Well, Looks Like At Least One Of Your Faves Is Getting Paid To Be Political
Looks like (we) and Ryn Weaver had it right, guys. Sort of. According to a report via The Free Beacon, public records indicate that Hillary Clinton's campaign paid Katy Perry's company, Kitty Purry Inc., nearly $70,000 in December for "event production". This payment happened one month after Perry publicly endorsed the decision to be #WithHer. It's not exactly clear whichevent the campaign paid for, BUT PERRY DIDN'T WRITE #SPON ON ANY OF THESE GRAM MOMENTS SO #SHADE. (via: Free Beacon)
