Mattel Admits It Had Nothing To Do With "Fierce" Boy Child Model

via YouTube

On Monday the internet collectively rejoiced when a Barbie commercial hawking a range of Moschino branded dolls featured its first ever boy model. "Moschino Barbie is so fierce!" our pint-size bff with a fab faux-hawk exclaimed in the ad — but as it turns out much like his faux hair the ad was a “fauxmercial”. “This video parodies iconic Barbie commercials from the 1980’s starring a young [Moschino creative director] Jeremy Scott look alike. The video celebrates how boys and girls alike play with Barbie - it's all about self-expression, fashion, imagination and storytelling," Mattel said in a statement to BBC.

Since the Moschino brand itself is basically a parody, we should have all seen this one coming. (via: BBC)
