Lanvin Makes Hip-Pop Sexy With New Ads

Ever since the lovable Alber Elbaz took the reins at Lanvin, he’s spun washed silks, industrial details and couture draping into fashion gold.  But the whims of the fashion world are fickle,  so fashion houses have taken to experimental advertising and social media to keep us kids riveted.

Last fall, Lanvin made us shake our gym-toned asses with a Pitbull dance party campaign video. But this spring, Elbaz and Co. work off the renewed popularity of the geeky .GIF in a new Stephen Meisel-lensed ad campaign.   The hypnotic video features models sweetly sipping from champagne flutes as a series of slithery serpentine co-stars sidle on up.

The ad’s got a dose of uptown flavor too, thanks to the frenzied staccatto beats of Maxine Ashley’s “Cookieman.” The New York girl with a penchant for funky New York style (she’s got fluorescent pink locks) is Pharrell Williams’ latest protege and said to be the next big thing in hip pop. So keep your eyes glued on the ad, and your ears tuned in to the music…Lanvin just showed those other houses that Paris knows how to party.
